About Bheno Noravank

The monastery stands on a triangular plot, reminiscent of a natural terrace, which is surrounded by wooded gorges. The monastery complex of Bheno Noravank was founded in the 11th century. The building of the monastery is distinguished by its original architecture and abounds in skillfully executed carved stone decor. The western entrance is decorated with elegant sculptural decorations. On the walls of the church building from the outside there are bas-reliefs depicting scenes from the life of Jesus Christ. Out of the eight originally existing similar plates-bas-reliefs, only two have survived to our days. “Evangelie” and “Ascension”.
