The Yerevan Museum of Contemporary Art was established in 1972 by Henrik Igityan, who was the director of the museum for 37 years. H. Igityan received great support in the creation of the museum from the then mayor of Yerevan G. Hasratyan, as well as from the best Armenian painters of the 60s.
